Gerald Gonzalez was born in Jacksonville, Florida and raised in Baker County. Gerald graduated from Baker County High School, earned his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Vincennes University, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College. Gonzalez later went on to graduate from the prestigious FBI National Academy.

Gerald knew from a young age that he wanted to work in law enforcement, always admiring the work his father did as a career Baker County Sheriff’s Office Deputy. Gonzalez’s career began over thirty years ago, and he has experience working in four different agencies as a patrol deputy, narcotics agent, internal affairs agent, investigator, and division director. Gerald is currently a Major with the Baker County Sheriff’s Office overseeing the Operations Bureau which is responsible for the supervision of the Patrol Division, Investigations/Special Operations, Emergency Management, Communications, and Information Technology.

Gonzalez currently serves as Chairman of the Baker County Traffic Safety Coalition and on the Board of Directors of the Baker Prevention Coalition. He served as a founding member of the YMCA of Baker County Board of Directors, Chairman of the Baker County Juvenile Justice Council, and Member of the FDLE State Officer Certification Exam Advisory Team. Gerald is a Member of the Florida Sheriff’s Association, National Rifle Association, FBI National Academy Associates, Florida SWAT Association, and Florida Intelligence Unit.

Gerald has received extensive law enforcement training from the Florida Sheriff’s Association, Florida Criminal Justice Institute, Drug Enforcement Administration, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Southern Police Institute. He is a certified law enforcement instructor in Drug Awareness, Narcotics Identification and Investigation, Injury and Death Investigations, and in Discipline and Special Confinement Techniques.

Gerald and his wife, Jessica, live in Glen Saint Mary, Florida and have six children and two grandchildren.
